Denning ("we", "us", "our") operates the Denning mobile application. This policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your personal data in accordance with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (India).
1. Information We Collect
Account information: Phone number (for OTP authentication), name, and role (citizen, advocate, or judge) as provided during profile setup.
Case data: Case details, documents, notes, and timeline entries you create or upload within the app.
Messages: Communications between clients and advocates within the in-app messaging system.
AI interactions: Questions and responses from the AI legal assistant, used to provide contextual guidance.
Usage data: App feature usage, screen views, and interaction patterns collected through Firebase Analytics to improve the service.
Device information: Device type, operating system version, and app version for crash reporting and compatibility.
2. How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate your identity and maintain your account
- To provide case tracking, legal guidance, and advocate matching services
- To send push notifications for hearing reminders, case updates, and messages
- To improve app performance and fix issues through crash reporting (Sentry)
- To understand feature usage and improve the service (Firebase Analytics)
3. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data. Your data is shared only in these circumstances:
- With your chosen advocate: Case details and messages are shared with advocates you explicitly connect with.
- Service providers: We use Supabase (database hosting), Firebase (notifications and analytics), and Sentry (crash reporting) to operate the app. These providers process data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements.
- Legal requirements: We may disclose data if required by Indian law, court order, or government authority.
4. Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on Supabase cloud infrastructure with encryption at rest and in transit. Authentication tokens are stored using platform-secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). Row-level security policies ensure users can only access their own data.
5. Your Rights
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the right to:
- Access: Request a copy of your personal data
- Correction: Update or correct inaccurate information
- Erasure: Request deletion of your account and associated data
- Grievance redressal: File a complaint regarding data processing

6. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, personal data is removed within 30 days. Anonymised analytics data may be retained for service improvement.
7. Children's Privacy
Denning is not intended for users under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect data from minors.
8. Push Notifications
We send push notifications for hearing reminders, case updates, and messages. You can manage notification preferences within the app settings or through your device's notification settings.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email.
